The Waiting Game

Hello! Welcome to my page! After reading many other Peace Corps volunteer's blogs, I decided why not create my own? With an ever-so-changing application process and timeline, I figured there are several out there who are in a similar, if not the same, situation as I was. So, here's my timeline (I apologize if it's not exactly the most concise timeline... it was a lot of waiting and I have a terrible memory):
November 2013: Applied for the University of Denver's Peace Corps Master's International (PCMI) program.
February 21, 2013: Received my acceptance letter for the University of Denver.
February 2013: Began my Peace Corps volunteer application (as suggested for the PCMI program).
June 28, 2013: Finally submitted my Peace Corps volunteer application.
- Also received e-mails for my Medical Applicant Portal (MAP). I filled out the Health History Form (HHF) and submitted it online.
July 17, 2013: Moved to Denver!!!
July 30, 2013: Received an e-mail from my recruiter for my interview! So excited and nervous!
August 9, 2013: Interviewed with my recruiter.
September 16, 2013: Received an e-mail from my recruiter saying that I was nominated for assignments departing in the April 2015 to June 2015 timeframe.
September 21, 2013: Received my legal kit in the mail.
-By the end of the week I had mailed my legal kit.
September 29, 2013: Legally cleared!
~AND THEN THE LONGEST WAIT OF MY LIFE~
November 5, 2014: I FINALLY RECEIVED MY APRIL 2015 INVITATION TO THE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC!!!!
-Received all of my health/dental/eye tasks for MAP, which I quickly scheduled appointments. I'm a worry wart, so I wanted to make sure that if something came up, there would be plenty of time to clear them up.
November 25, 2014: Turned in all of my MAP tasks and forms. And now the wait for medical clearance!
November 28, 2014: Received message on MAP:Thank you Lida for submittting all your documents. I am prioritizing review for those departing ahead of you in Januray/February but I will get to you soon. Please send me another message in a few weeks if you do not hear from me again.
December 2, 2014: Received message from my pre-service nurse stating that more information and an official letter of consent from my cardiologist was needed.
December 20, 2014: FINALLY submitted the extra materials with a final clearance from my doctor.
December 30, 2014: RECEIVED MY FINAL MEDICAL CLEARANCE!!!!!
*Note: In my invitation e-mail there was mention of a legal kit. However, I quickly asked Peace Corps about having to fill out another legal kit since I already did so after the nomination stage. I was told that I would not have to resubmit my fingerprints since I already submitted them.
